The life-size bust of Captain America (sculpted by Martin Canale) was released in 2011 on the occasion of the American Independence day, with an edition size of 1000 pieces. Being a 1:1 scale, the size is significant (44 x 30 cm, with a height of more than 60 cm), but the weight is small (about 7 kg), thus indicating that the statue is hollow and probably made of light materials (fiberglass?). The piece has an extraordinary charm! The gaze of the hero is lost to the horizon and expresses the pride of the American symbol par excellence of the Marvel Universe. The sculpt is perfect and the coloring really of a top level. The contrast of the different textures on the mask of the character is excellent: the twine is rather thick under the eyes and on temples, while it widens on neck, offering a good visual contrast with the smooth front, where the typical "A" is carved in relief with a perfect and well defined shape. The side flaps are well proportioned and slender back with the right curvature, while the typical scales are carved on the chest individually. Also the texture on face is very accurate: the porosity of the skin is realized with great skill and the color of the lips is hyper-realistic. The hollow of cheekbones and the eyes are beautiful: at some points, they seems to have true inner capillaries, thus offering a great realism. Note the amazing shades of the mask on the eyes and its shape over the nose, which provide the figure with a nice visual impact. The same realism comes from the barely sketched wrinkles on the cheeks and around the mouth and chin dimple. All these details give the face the traits of a true man and the expected expressiveness of a super soldier. A masterly realization of great appeal and relevant aesthetic impact for this key-character of the Marvel Universe.
